Experiments in Lighting

Title: Morning light
Location: In my neighborhood
Description: This picture was taken in the morning around 8:30 AM. It has good lighting but the positioning is a little weird. The position of the sun and shadow you can tell it is morning. It has a bright feel.
 Title: Noon Light
Location: In my neighborhood
Description: This picture was taken around 1:30 PM. I really like the lighting in this picture, everything is lit up and the colors of the bush look great in this lighting. .
Title: Evening light
Location: In my neighborhood
Description: This picture was taken around 6:00 PM. There wasn't a whole lot of light because there was a really tall brick wall blocking the sun, so there weren't any shadows and the picture ended up a little dark.
 Title: end of day thoughts
Location: outside my neighborhood
Description: This picture has good lighting. I think this picture has soft lighting and the color of the light makes my dogs fur look really nice. In the picture there are purple grass behind my dog, the sun shined through them and gave the picture a really pretty look.

 Title: Night time fountain
Location: My backyard
Description: This picture has bad lighting.  The water is lit up but the water is too bright I guess and everything else is too dark. I actually like the lighting on this picture I think it helps the water stand out. I had a hard time finding an example of bad lighting, I thought it would be easy but it wasn't.

Best Picture Ever

 Title: Shining River
Location: Rio Grande
Description: This picture is one of my favorites. I love how the main focus is the river and how the trees kind of frame and are almost like leading lines to the river. In my opinion this picture also uses color and perspective. The River has the least amount of color, but since it is the brightest part that is where the eye goes to. The way this picture shows perspective is that you are seeing the river from slightly above and to the right. You are seeing the river from the side, not  head on.

Title: Mirrored Tree
Location: Rio Grande
Description: To me this picture tells a story. The tree has a reflection that shows more of the tree then you can see. I love how the reflection has more color than the tree. To me this picture shows that we can become something great and that we are beautiful in our own special way. This picture uses Symmetry, Balance, and a little Framing. it is balanced because both sides aren't exactly the same, even though it is symmetrical (horizontally). The dirt at the edges of the water frame the reflection.

Title: Green Leaves
Location: Rio Grande
Description: I love how this picture uses color. All of the colors are shades green, yellow, or brown. All of the colors blend together making it seem complete and whole. This picture follows the rule of thirds, because the leaves are on the top left corner on the Rule of Thirds grid. This picture also uses small leading lines. The stems of the individual leaves and the stick the leaves are on lead to the leaf at the front and the individual leaves.

Framing and Viewpoint

Title: Happy thoughts
 Location: My front yard
Description: This picture has an interesting perspective. The picture was taken at a high angle, giving it a prettier look. Because the subject (my sister) is looking up to the camera it gives her a thoughtful look, like she is remembering or thinking of something happy.
Title:  Caramel hot chocolate
Location: In my kitchen
Description: This picture is taken at an angle to make it seem like you are looking down at your hot chocolate waiting until it is cool enough to drink. The high angle helps the picture feel more realistic.
Title: Seedling
 Location: My backyard
Description: This picture has a frame around the seed. The frame helps bring the focus to the subject, even though the leaves that are the frame have more color.
