Patterns and backgrounds

 Title:Simple garden rose

Location: my backyard

Description: This picture is an example of a good background. Since the background is dark the rose stands out more because of the difference in color. The background is simple and doesn't have very much going on, and it is slightly blurred. It is easy to focus on the flower because that is the only thing in the picture with color in it.

 Title: Bright Idea

Location: my front yard

Description: This is an example of a bad background. There are houses in the background which makes it so it is harder the focus on the subject. if there wasn't as much going on in the background the picture would be way better.

 Title: Up above the world so high

Location: taken on the road to my house

Description: This picture is am example of patterns. Even though the clouds aren't the same, it creates a pattern in the sky. The lighting creates depth and gives me a peaceful feeling.

Leading lines, Balance, and Symmetry

 Title: Squirrel!

Location: on the road in front of my house

Description: This picture demonstrates both Symmetry and Balance. The puddle reflects the dog almost perfectly. The picture if full but not to full, it just feels right. Sadly there is a crack in the road behind him. 

 Title: Balanced on the Curb

Location: on the road by my house

 Description: this picture demonstrates leading lines. The lines from the curb lead to my sisters foot, making that the main focus.

 Title: Relaxed and Enjoying the World

Location: on the road by my house

Description: I think that this picture demonstrates asymmetry. Both sides are filled but they are not exactly the same.  One side is filled with my sister, and the other has brightly colored clouds. This picture is odd because her face is facing outwards. This picture represents not focusing on ourselves and enjoying the world we have, kind of just being relaxed.

Color and rule of thirds

Title: New Mexico Temple

Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico Temple

Description: This picture follows the rule of thirds.The light hits the temple perfectly. The steeple is at the topmost corner on a rule of thirds grid.  The angle complements the subject beautifully.

 Title: Blood Orange Sunset

Location: On the side of the road

Description: This one follows color. The sun is setting behind a hill silhouetting the hill. The colors from the sunset stand out against the dark sky. Because the sunset is orange it stands out more and draws the eye.

Title: Over the mountain

Location: somewhere in Midway Utah

Description: Follows The rule of thirds and color. The mountain follows the rule of thirds and the sun behind the mountain become the main focal point because it is yellow. Beautiful colors and contrast.
